Breakfast, Brunch & good times with a great bunch. Seriously good breakfast, served fast and great service. The owner is a phenomenal person - anything she has a part of is done with care, professionalism and love. I love every opportunity I can get to grab a bite here. If you have never experience the broken egg then you must give it a try.

I've been to the Broken Egg a few times. Due to the prime location on main street at the edge of Kerrytown, I keep expecting the dining experience there to be better than it is. On each occasion I am left feeling underwhelmed with the service and overcharged for the food.
Today I ordered an orange juice with my breakfast, for which I was charged $3.50. I am reasonably sure this was Minute Maid OJ. I also ordered a "breakfast stew", which was very tasty, but other than to drop off my check, the waitress never stopped by. Only three tables were occupied and there were at least two servers working. Before the tip, my bill for a single breakfast order came to $14.29.
The woman at the register asked how things were, and I responded with, "just ok". She didn't ask me to elaborate, in fact, she didn't say anything else at all. -

We stopped at the Broken Egg for breakfast while in town for the Probility Marathon. The quaint environment was welcoming and was adorned with various U of M spirit, as well as easter décor for the upcoming holiday. The service was quick and friendly, with very minimal wait time for food at the early breakfast hour. The location was nice, as it is right downtown on Main Street. The menu has a nice array of sweet and savory options at a reasonable price. I ordered the Potato Sensation (pictured). The portions were plentiful and the food was tasty. Recommend for quiet bite to eat with family!

My boyfriend brought me here. The photos and tags of this place on social media looks super awesomely good. But when I got there and ordered my food. The food looked delicious, but it didn't taste as such.
I was so disappointed! They tasted like Coney Island pancakes. Not saying pancakes from Coney Island are bad. I just expected more. The eggs weren't exciting or fluffy either. Then we got there at like 1ish.. as soon as they brought our food out the waitress put the check on the table too... I'm like do they want us to leave, it was weird.
I didn't like it overall... maybe it's better during peak hours.. idk... I suppose it's a nice stop for college students with basic pallets. -

Walking in for Saturday brunch, this place was reassuringly full, but still had tons of space for seating, because the Broken Egg takes up two shopfronts worth of space. Great for groups! I also think this would be an okay place to bring kids - they had a round table near the front full of various Dr Seuss books, to distract your little ones. It's pretty casual: don't feel you have to dress up, unless you feel compelled to express your allegiance in public with a particular sports team's jersey.
I loveddddd the French toast! That in itself would have been a 5 star. I had a French toast that was a special, with apple cinnamon bread and blueberry compote. Every part of this tasted amazing - how did the blueberry compote taste so fresh? Big portions too, with three decently thick slices of French toast served. Definitely would reorder if I had the chance! The kind of thing I would eat for every Saturday brunch if there were no consequences.
However. The Chicago omelette, apparently one for the specialties of this place, was something you should NEVER order. It was so terribly salty with layer upon layer of different things (bacon, cheddar cheese, feta cheese) without any balancing. The hash browns these came with were also undercooked... not translucent on the inside, the way good hash browns always are. Really disappointed in this as a representation of the place's savory menu, and had to knock off stars for that.
